The University of Groningen (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, RuG) is located in the North of the Netherlands, in the province Groningen.

Housing
The university provides a housing service which will arrange an accommodation you, either in the private market or in a student dorm. The service is fast and reliable, but it costs 300 Euro. For this price, you will get the chance to choose among two places only, whereas if you look for a room yourself, you will be able to search until ou find a suitable place. Student dorm rents range from 250 to 350 Euro per month.
In general, private housing is not easy to find. However, it is possible (I'm living in private housing, too). Here a few sites you could check:
- http://www.kamernet.nl: you need to register to see the offers, and in order to react you have to buy credit; but it is comparably cheap given that real estate agencies (makelaars) are usually charging a month's rent
- http://www.marktplaats.nl -> Woningen | huur (means 'appartments | to rent')
- http://www.grasp.name: A PhD students organization site, however, offers also some housing details.
